Hi Crowther,

it%26#39;s me again i was there in May which was the hot season. I beleive at Christmas time it is their coolest time.

In saying that it will still be hot and humid, travel light that includes shorts.

You can always buy clothes to accommadate you as clothes are much cheaper there than back home.

As for celebrating Christmas and New Years I heard they have amazing fireworks on Pattaya beach for New Years eve.

When you can injoy a beautiful meal every night of the week weather it;s seafood, thai, italian, german, indian etc for the price of a hambuger back home.

Then top it off with a bottle red, singha etc and watch the world go by

To me it%26#39;s Christmas every night,

Cheers Mark

p.s Maybe if we get more members to join us we can have our own New Years eve bash.

HI, I have lived in Pattaya now for five years so heres what to expect, the Thais though 98% Bhuddist love any excuse for a party and giving presents, so the shopping malls and supermarkets put up and sell decorations and play frosty the snowman even though its 90 degrees outside.

Most Thais will be working Christmas day unless they work for multinational companies who take a break christmas through new year. Most of the larger hotels add a supplement of about 1000 Bht per person on both Christmas eve and New years eve which pays for entertainment and a buffet , if your hotel does not then you can pay 1000to 1500 bht for a ticket to one that does.

Nightlife in town Christmas eve isnt%26#39; much different except that the bar staff will be wearing santa hats and some of the larger aircon expat bars i.e Shennanigans, The queen vic, Jamesons, might be having a party their may be a charge but will include food and entertainment, there may be food and entertainment in Walking street south Pattaya which will be very busy but a good place to head for the atmosphere and people watching.

On Christmas day most Expat restuarant/airconbars have the usual Brit Christmas day meal though you may have to book in advance expect to pay between 400 and 800 Bht per person, I went for a meal two years ago and found it a struggle to eat and now give it a miss.

New years eve is on Sunday so more Thais will be off work though all the main shops will still be open, it is celebrated more by the Thais and the local council always arrange a party which is always on Thai tv and is normally a free concert and at midnight a firework display, this is held at Bali HI Pier which is the southern end of Walking street just follow the crowds, there are plenty of food and drink stalls around the pier.

Hope this has been a help and have a good holiday.

As I have allready mentioned Walking Street south pattaya is a good place to head for, a couple of places I would reccomend are Lucifers which have a live group and is always busy and Tony%26#39;s entertainment complex but expect to pay a lot more for drinks in these two, if you are a single guy and want to party with some cute bargirls Soi 8 and Soi 7 will be busy, avoid Soi 6 it is mainly trashy little short time bars, its also busy on 2nd road opposite the Big C Shopping mall. Anybody a little older with their wife or girlfriend might want to check out the Bamboo Bar which is about 30 metres from the entrance to walking st, drink prices and the group are good and people are always up dancing, it normally doesnt liven up until around 10 p.m.
