Be aware that what you are decribing is ';nominee ownership'; and that is not legal in Thailand. While many have gotten away with it in the past, the Thai government has recently begun to look into these arrangements very carefully. You may be better off with a long lease, which is legal. By the way, foreigners can legallly own condos under certain conditions.

Best bet would be to consult with a law firm that specialises in foreign ownership.

Thank you for the valed information most help full...Chris

only thai nationals can own freehold land there, foreighners can purchase land with the correct title ,but only for 30 years ,with another 30+30 year option once the first 30 year period has expired supposidly-- i sounds well risky to me!

if land is owned by a thai(a thai wife for instance) and has the correct title, you can do it, but you will always be ar the mercy of said thai

you could buy a condo as the other poster mentioned

i personally, would rent a place- as its really cheap to do so, if it all goes pear-shaped you can cut and run without losing too much

check out ';sunbelt asia'; web site

good luck

Thanks for the info Andy53...Put my mine at rest better to rent than buy...Cheers chris
