Bangkok Airport

Hi All,

In June of 2007 i will be transiting at BKK the flight will be Singapore Airlines to Bangkok From Sinagpore and Then Thai Airways to Zurich, does anyone have any eexperince in the new airport and what the transit will be like ? and weather i will have to check-in again, immagration ect.

Bangkok Airport

Truthfully you will have to ask your airlines or agent.

As you are flying different carriers you may or maynot be able to internally transfer.

Theoretically even if you do not get your boarding pass from Singapore you will be able to get it from the transfer desks in air side of Bangkok.

Luggage should be able to be transfered.

BUT ask your airlines to confirm details

Bangkok Airport

I agree with the above post. In addition, plan for a considerable amount of walking.

Almost certainly you will be checked straight through since you are only in transit and so no need for customs/immigration formalities.

Hi,

I had a bad experience transiting in the new airport. I was going from Phuket to Taipei, transiting in Bangkok. From Phuket to Bangkok I flew Thai Airways, but i needed to wait for 3 hours and transfer to China Airlines to go to Taipei. At Phuket i requested to be checked in with immigration so I was told i wouldn%26#39;t have to do it in Bangkok. My baggages were told that they were going straight to Taipei too. But once i got to Bangkok, it was so confusing, we asked at least 3 people, and they kept telling us to go different places and finally the information desk girl said to exit baggage claim area and check in again at China Air kiosk. We were hesitant becasue we knew we already checked in but we had to since we had no other choice or else we%26#39;d%26#39;miss our flight. so we get to china air and checked in to get our boarding pass, got fined 3000 Baht for our over weight luggage due to short flight distance(unreasonable because we were not fined from Phuket to Bangkok).

Then also asked to pay for airport tax again when we were to enter the immigration area, but thank goodness i had showed my receipt from phuket that i already paid. i believe it was 500 baht/pp. anyways, very confusing large airport and unorganized, loud and hot. Make sure you check with your flight carrier and see if they can print you out a boarding pass in advance in Singapore. Or, make sure you ask somebody as soon as you exit the plane when getting into bangkok, usually they have people holding signs for transitors.

good luck! hopefullly the airport will be more oraganized by the time you visit.

Hi Andon,

Most prob you%26#39;ll have to do a check-in for your onward flight on Thai Airways to Zurich at the transfer counter, though I%26#39;m pretty certain your bags will be tagged through to your final destination (i.e. Zurich) if you let the check-in agent at the Singapore airport know that you have an onward connecting flight.

If you%26#39;re doing a check-in at Bangkok%26#39;s transfer counter, you%26#39;ll not need to clear Thai immigration. The transfer counters are located inside the transit area - on your way to immigration clearance.

I agree with the others too though - with regards to confirming with the airline. With Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways partners in the Star Alliance grouping, there may be a possibility of an interline through check-in for that TG flight to Zurich from Singapore.

Good Luck!
