Hi all,
Just wondered if anyone has stayed here or near here recently. I have never been to Thailand before but having looked around this looked amazing value for money. £600 each for Bed %26amp; Breakfast for 14 nights with Thomson!! It is our honeymoon and I am hoping for a bit of relaxing and luxury as well as some real amazing experiences.
The flights worry me a bit as its a long time in the air and Thomsonfly dont appear to have a plane big enough for the trip! Apparantly there is a stop over in Dubai for re-fuelling!
Just interested to hear peoples opinions of this hotel and Khao Lak in general really.
Cheers!
Best Western Palm Galleria - Khao Lak
By the way, I am travelling on 1st Jan 2007 for 14 nights. What can we expect weather wise?? Will it be hot and dry or can we expect some bad weather??
Cheers again!
Best Western Palm Galleria - Khao Lak
We have just returned, also on a Thomson deal.
Super hotel and great staff, very quiet and romantic location although the hotel is fifteen minutes drive from town ( cheap taxi or even the courtesy bus).
Great beach opposite hotel - not a soul on it most days , lovely for swimming.
The food is lovely in the hotel but even better in Khao Lak itself.
Khao Lak is a small town with about fifteen restaurants and a few shops . There are one or two bars and massage huts on the beach.
We took some great excursions - Elephant trekking one day and a long day around Phang Na with our own taxi (cheaply organised through the hotel manager).
We loved it !
The reply from Paul + Tanya should reassure you about the hotel, which is new only opening in April this year. Whilst it is remote you are not far from Khao Lak Town where there are plenty of bars and restaurants. It is not very commercialised and long may that remain the case. Khao Lak still has the charm of Thailand before over development and commercialism spoiled parts of it.
January weather should be great as it is Dry Season. That doesn%26#39;t mean it won%26#39;t rain, just that there should be less of it! LOL
Have alook at www.khaolaklovers.com and www.mykhaolak.de (German site but some great photos) for information on Khao lak, excursions etc.
As for your flight, the aircraft will be plenty big enough. It%26#39;s just that some are not configured for lnon-stop long haul flights, hence the refuelling stop, but I don%26#39;t think it is in Dubai. Abu Dhabi, I think. However, thqat%26#39;s only about an hour turnround and overall from boarding in UK to alighting in Phuket, it will be shorter than the normal 2 or 3 flight scheduled flight.
From Phuket Airport to your hotel is a pleasant hour and half transfer.
I%26#39;m sure you will love it.
Many thanks or your replies. It sounds amazing, I cant wait for it to come around.
