internal flights
Hi Rob,
I do think I am the best person to answer your question, but I will give you my thoughts. I will be traveling from Bangkok to Phucket and we have booked our flight to and from here in the US with Thai airlines via their website. We did this for a few reason, 1) we wanted to make sure we would be able to sit together, 2) for what I gather dec-Jan is high season and we wanted to make sure we got the flight of the day and time we wanted.
Having said that I have no idea if it is cheaper to book the flight the day of at the airport. Good Luck.

internal flights
Thanks for that Ashley i think you might be right
especially as i am booking some of the hotels now,so i suppose best be safe the cheapest flights i have found are with Air Asia,
i presume they are a good reliable company.
hope you trop goes well

';i presume they are a good reliable company.';
I would do a search on this forum about Air Asia. Very mixed views about ';the RyanAir of South East Asia';. They are certainly generally the cheapest, not always the most reliable, no frills, only 15kg checked-in luggage - sound familiar?
Bangkok Air tend to be more expensive than they used to be and on a par with Thai Airlines prices. There%26#39;s also Nok Air and One-Two-Go, both of which fly the route you want and you can book on-line now for January 2007 at prices which I think will be cheaper than waiting to book at the airport. January being High Season as well, you are risking there being no seats available (or only at times very different to what you would like) by waiting until the airport. Nok Air is only 15kg luggage allowance but you can upgrade to Nok Air Plus which increases it to 30kg plus other benefits. One-Two-Go is 20kg. Both have good reputations (as does Bangkok Airways) for punctuality and quality of service.
Hi Rob,
We have travelled many a time with Airasia and have no trouble what so ever. I agree that at that time of year yes it would be best to book prior to going but I like to be safe and organized and for the want of a few dollars if there is any difference at all, I like to know that I can walk off one plane onto another. But perhaps someone else can give you more advise on standby or booking at the airport. If you have no set schedual just play it by ear but remember that Dec/Jan is the high season.
Hope you work it out. Enjoy your holiday

Hi just flew Air Asia bangkok to Krab,i Phuket to Bangkok.
they only open check in 2 hr before flight, so if early you have to set on bags. then it is open seating so first come first served ,if you are not waiting at the gate in line, might not get seats together. they are always late. but you get what you pay for no food on plane have to buy drinks if you want. I would book ahead with another airline just so you know you have confirmed seats and flights. less stress means more fun.
HI Rob, i have booked many internal flights on line, i know that it is
cheaper than booking at the airport, and at least you will know that your ticket is secure
Happy holidays, Chris U.K..
