Longtails equipped with Life Vests??

Hi,

We are visiting Krabi with 3 small children (all under 7 years old). Does anyone know if the longtails are equipped with safety equipment such as life vests?

Any info would be helpful, thanks!!

Longtails equipped with Life Vests??

I%26#39;ve not seen lifevests or any other safety equipment on any longtail boat I%26#39;ve ever been on. Best to bring your own anyway, as even on a bigger boat we took once, although there were vests, none were small enough for our daughter (then 8). We met several families who had brought their own vests for their kids, which seemed like a good idea, as they were sure of the fit and the quality.

Thank you fish2 for providing the much needed information so quickly. Cheers!!

I%26#39;m almost certain I%26#39;ve seen lifejackets on many of the longtail boats. Admittedly, they are rarely worn, but they are available for anyone who wants to.

Most longtails have life vests, not always visible, usually under the seats or attached to the roof, but in true Titanic style, only 4-5 for 10 passengers!!!! If you want them, just ask. If the longtail doesn%26#39;t offer them, change longtail.

Many thanks to guitareth and TEFLinKrabi!! I will certainly check with the boatman when I am hiring the longtail.

I have never seen or travelled with a longtail boat without several life vests on board. But they often look very old and I wonder how solid they are. I have never seen special vests for children on the boats. Maybe they bring if you book and ask in advance, but at koh Lanta some friends of us had to buy a vest for their 2 years old child. The boatman could only bring vests for adults.
