pattaya vs koh samui

Ive booked a holiday for my boyfriend and i (both 22yrs old) to thailand for 20 aug 2007, staying at the montien bangkok for 4 nights, then i cant decide where to go after that for another 10 nights. im previsionaly booked at the montien pattaya, but ive heard some bad reviews of the hotel and the area. i am deciding between the aisawan resort and spa pattay or the chaba cabana on koh samui. can any one help me with which is the best area to go to. were looking for great beaches which are fairly quiet, hotel on the beach,at least 4*, and a place where we can go do things aswell as chill on the beach. bit confused about where to go as theres so many!!!!! some one plz help as this is a big holiday for us and we want it to be perfect.

pattaya vs koh samui

comparing pattaya and koh samuii is like comparing apples and oranges

they are too entirely different lifestyles and area.s .with your age. i would go south to Koh Samuii .and the weather might me a little better in Samuii in august also.

Have a great time you have plenty of time to keep searching. there are thousands of hotels to choose from..

pattaya vs koh samui

Do you want a garden sprinkler or a pair of socks/ that%26#39;s about as close as Samui and Pattaya are .....however do NOT listen to Todder%26#39;s advice....bar girls do not interfer with men accompayied by women..

Also I would check up on the weather in Samui in August. Samui has a double wet season, and can be much wetter than Pattaya art times. the wet in Pattaya is from May to Nov but this does not mean continuous rain, it means thunderstorms ,showers 35 Celsius and beautiful sunny spells as well. Samui can be prone to days of continuous rain if you are unlucky. Tropical rain is not like rain in tNortyh Amarica or Europe it%26#39;s dramatic even romantic and enjoyable and quite warm.

Well, I wonder what happened there......!?!?!?!

i think we have got the message, lol

hey ive just returned from thailand and had about 8 great nighths in koh-sumui.

weather wise it seemed to be 1 good day 1 bad day with only 1 day where it was bad all day.was on kohpangan for 3 days and the weather there was excellent for the entire 3 days and generally calm water on the beaches.

if your going to koh sumui and are travelling there from bangkok you may want to get there by boat as the internal flight are very exspensive.my friend who was there 3 years ago told me he paid about 35 pounds/70 dollars, this year we paid about 120 pounds/240 dollars and that was for the cheapest flight at 5 am in the morning.whilst on sumui we did see banners protesting againt thai air for raisinfg its prices of flights.

chewang beach was the best beach i visited which was very clean and had ample beach front hotels where you could get good food and drink.

shopping on sumui i found to be much more exspensive than in bangkok.ie my friend bought 3 replica watches for about 8000baht and that was with a chunk knocked off through bartering,he was happy.when we returned to bangkok any of the watches he bought could be had for 1300baht each.also the trainers and leather designer bags were alot more exspensive.ie we were on the lookout foe leather chloe bags which when asked how much they were asking silly money like 8500 for 1 bag, after negotiating he would only drod his price to just under 7000baht.this was similar for most places we found the chloe bagd(with the padlocks).when we returned to bangkok we went to mbk and on the 6th floor(room 54)there was a little booth called lek fashion and the 2 women in there were selling the same bags for 2500 each so we bought 3 for 6000baht now that was a bargain.again there was shops in mbk selling the same bags for 5-6000baht.if purchasing leather goods just make sure you inspect it well before parting with any money, the ladies in lek will insist you inspect and make sure your happy before you pay.

Well, sxytgrbb (what a nick!) as you want a great beach, the discussion is closed. Go for Samui.

There are plenty of posts on Pattaya beach ... not the best of Thailand to say the least.

As for the Thai girls... keep an eye on your boyfriend, to keep your holiday perfect :-))

But as one already replied here - they will not go after him unless he wants it himself.
