I am travelling to Chiang Mai mid Jan 2007 for 10 days with husband, 2 young children and maid (come babysitter!!!). Don%26#39;t want to be flat out on the go all the time, but definitely want to get some sightseeing in and shopping of course. Any local guides that you can recommend (that we could contact prior to arriving)? With reasonable size car/van if we want to take everyone with us (or not). Any suggestions as to the places that we must visit while there. We will be staying at the Novotel Chiang Mai. Thanks for your help.
What to do for 10 days in Chiang Mai???
Don%26#39;t miss the Sunday market in Chiang Mai. It is on pretty much all day and is made up of several miles of stalls - a shoppers paradise! You should also make an effort to visit an elephant park for a show and elephant ride. Mae Ping elephant park is an excellent place to go. You could join a tour to visit a hill tribe too (they would organise this for you in your hotel) and the temple of Doi Suthep is also a great place to go for fantastic views from its position on the mountain down over Chiang Mai.
Above all, make sure to get lots of massages while you%26#39;re there and enjoy yourselves!
