Baumanburi Hotel
Hi lazeedogg
Greetings from another BC Boy currently living and working in Phuket for the last 9 years.
The Baumanburi is offering pretty good rates now and I was at their grand opening party 2 months ago. Try to get one of the pool access rooms and you will not be dissapointed.
Located about 50 meters from the new Patong ';O'; Top shopping bazzar and far enough from the main bar streets that you can relax without you face in things.
feel free to drop me a mail at richard@phuket-scuba-diving.com if you are interested in any of the activities or attractions that are availiable in your area.

Baumanburi Hotel
I have just arrived home from Thailand and we stayed in the Baumanburi for 4 nights in Phuket, it was lovely! We were a bit dubious as it was a new hotel and had only been open for a couple of weeks. We had a pool access room which was fantastic, there were steps into the pool from our balcony. It is also in a great location, close to everything.
Hope you have a great time...
Hi this hotel looks great- and seems pretty reasonable. On another travel related web site someone had expressed concern that it was very close to the Patong Seweage separation plant. I%26#39;m not sure if this should be a concern or not (or even true. Has anyone who has stayed here had trouble with wafty smells in their rooms/around the pool area? I realise that such things can be part and parcel of a holiday in SE Asia....but don%26#39;t want to be slap bang in the middle of it! Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hi rickc1970
It is true that the waste station is located on the outskirts of Patong on the East side about a kilometer from the main hotels. However if there was any problem with the hotels you would see bad reviews from The Holiday Inn, Patong Merlin Resort and many more that are all in the same area within meters of each other.
I have to addmit that some of us locals do call Patong ';The Toilet'; due to a slight smell durring the end of the hot season. But this is all of Patong so it is not rite to center out a particular hotel as the same is true with the whole city unless you are very close to the beach. We locals also tend to exagerate a bit because we live in uncrowded and untouristy places well away from Patong.
Personaly I love the food, flowers and vegitation smell of my rural community. Just the other day I did an inspection of a hotel on the way out to the airport that was built around a swamp with the restuarent overtop of the water on stilts. This mozzie farm really smelled like a sewer and I can amagine what it will be like in the hot season, yikes!
Stick with your origional choice of the Baumanburri and if you can then get one of the pools access rooms. Seems to me that the rear upper rooms would be looking out towards the dump by the mountain in the distance so just insist on a first or second floor room if you do not like the pool room idea.
