How much should it cost for 2 people to get from Krabi airport to the layana resort on Koh Lanta? The resort has a shuttle service that costs about $160 per person per way during the high season. That seems like a lot. Are there cheaper or better alternatives?

We took the same route in Oct 2005. I emailed our resort and asked them about the join van. This was 250 baht per person to join a van with others that drove to Lanta and dropped you off at the resort. it is cheap but it did not seem to stick to any timetable. We were told waiting up to about 1/2 hour at the airport. It was an hour in the end but hey look at the price. Another alternative is a taxi fromt the airport from memory 2500 baht. In high season you can catch a ferry from Krabi town itself which is cheap again. I am not sure how you would organise this maybe google ferry krabi to Lanta and see what you can find. I would not pay the layana premium unless you are concerned about time wasting.

We are going from Krabi airport to Koh Lanta in January and our resort offers to take our family, 4 persons, in a van for 2500 baht, one way. We go from Krabi and take the car ferry.
If you want to pay less, you take the other ferry from Krabi but that ferry only goes twice a day. It depends on what time you get to Krabi!
We are going to take the other ferry on our way back because it is much cheaper.
