We r coming to phuket in 8 sleeps woohooo!!!! Just wanted to double check there is no arrival fee at phuket airport is it just when we leave bankgkok ( as we stop over on the way back) that we pay the 500 baht?

Hi Caity,

you are correct, there is no entry or exit tax at Phuket. Only Koh Samui airport charges that. Also, it is 5oo baht exit tax at Bangkok, but only until March 1st, when the rules change and that will be included in the price of your flight.

Departure Fee

You have to pay the 500 Baht departure tax in Phuket if you are only in transit at Bangkok.

If you are there for a day or more at a hotel then you pay it on leaving Bangkok.

Just to add to the confusion... or make it clearer.....

There is an airport tax at all airports...

Around 50 Baht.... But you paid it when you bought the tickets.... so nothing further to pay when you depart Phuket....

If you buy an International ticket today.. for departure after Feb. 1, 2007... the international departure tax will also be paid when you buy/pay for your ticket.

ok, so just to clarify things - I%26#39;m flying in to Phuket later this week, and leaving early December - so that means I won%26#39;t have to pay any departure tax?

starlet_girl, everyone has to pay airport and international departure taxes....

If you are departing Phuket on a domestic flight... your airport tax is paid when you buy/bought your ticket. You then pay your international departure tax when you exit Thai immigration whenever/whereever that may be.

If it%26#39;s an international departure or you are only going to be in transit in Bangkok.... in which case you go through immigration in Phuket.... you pay your 500 Baht International departure tax there.

Yes Starlet Girl, you definataly have to pay 500 Baht at Phuket airport if you are flying back to OZ.

Work%26#39;s out to about $18 AUD. Put 500 Baht away in your passport after you arrive and then you know that you have it covered when you leave.

domestic airport tax is paid when you buy your ticket.... International YOU pay when you depart...

And yes... I do know the rules have been changed... but don%26#39;t confuse anyone with that in this tread... already confusing enough!
