Hi Rayy,

I have dived many times at both. The diving is better on the Andaman Sea. Krabi boats go to PhiPhi and many of the sites dived out of Phuket. I have enjoyed diving off Koh Tao and Sail Rock which are the better dive sites off Koh Samui, but generally the visability is not so good.

If quality of diving was my only criteria, I%26#39;d opt for Krabi.

Hope that is a help.

Regards,

Michael

This is must be the most popular inquiry we get, when the good condition for diving around Koh Samui is. March to April is famous for great condition 25-40 meter visibility but in reality we get great condition also from July to November. December to February can be tricky as some years we get a lot of rain and weather and some other years we get good condition with rain every few days for an hour or two.

Last year for example the rain and storms came late and we did not run much diving from 25/11/2005 to the end of December. This year we had poor visibility, less than 10 meter, from 7/11/2007 until 12/11/2007 and now we have OK visibility on average 18 meters.

If you ask me, if it is December to February and you come only for diving, go to the west coast. You have better chance to get great visibility and better weather. Although, west coast in this period can be pricy and crowded.

Please note that when Koh Samui diving is canceled due to big storms, on average 10days a year, the west cost diving is also cancel as the storms effect both sides of Thailand coast.
