We had our travel agent book Yaang Come Village from Jan. 17th to the 21st. of January.
She faxed c.c. info. etc. and did not receive a reply.
Tried a few times, over a couple of weeks.
Gave up and got in touch with Trails of Indochine Travel.
They booked the room, we gave our amex, and they confirmed.
Last week they contacted her asking for a scanned copy of our amex card front and back.
I have never heard of such a thing and declined to send it even offering to give the approval number on back of card.
My travel agent offered her personal guarantee, as we are frequent business flyers.
They refused.
So although they had all of my c.c. info. this was cancelled.
I went online and booked from a local agent in Chaing Mai, as I couldn%26#39;t find an e-mail address for Yaang Come Village that would go through..
It is three days, and they have not confirmed either(although I received an immediate automated response of ';thank you for booking with us';).
I contacted them about not receiving an e-mail asking for c.c. info, or a real reply, and have not heard from them.
Is this bad Karma??
I am so frustrated.
Two questions, as I either have multiple or no booking, do you know of a fax, e-mail, directly to Yaang Come, where I can contact them directly?
Or should I just give up and book elsewhere?
I have never had a booking experience like this in my life.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance from a very frustrated
Bev
Doc Tremblay help please!!
I booked directly with YCV for last December and just faxed back the guarantee form with the CC info they sent me as a document to print out. No problem. It sounds like your third party reservations are the problem. Maybe try sawadee.com if you must use a third party. But the rate I got for direct booking with YCM was only 100 baht over the sawadee.com rate ($2.50) and I had immediate confirmation and did not have to prepay.
Doc Tremblay help please!!
In case you don%26#39;t have it, YCV website is http://www.yaangcome.com/ and their e-mail comes up from there is you click reservations. They were very prompt, anwering me within minutes (but I am in Asia too, so time difference isn%26#39;t really an issue).
fish,
Thanks for your rapid response.
Anyone wishing to get through, it didn%26#39;t work until I added the /
This is the secret thanks.
Just asking for Yaangcome.com doesn%26#39;t work, as you get only travel agents.
Sent an e-mail and am keeping my fingers crossed.
I will get back to the forum with whatever the result is of this misadventure.
Wanted to give my travel agent a break, as she did work out my upgrades on points to first class tickets Thai Airways.
We managed the same thing last year on Thai Air, but Air Canada are usually stinkers about allowing you to use points for overseas more than once every two years.
She somehow convinced them, so I thought that she should at least earn some commission on hotels..
I am wondering if anyone else has ever been asked to send a photocopy back and front of their C.C.
Scarry stuff!
Bev:
Sounds like you have had a frustrating experience. We have reservations at Yaang Come for early December. I thought I would share that I first obtained rates through three different U.S. travel agents, all who do Asia travel only, and the rates were very high from all three. I also tried Swadee and Asia Rooms and both were sold out for Yaang Come. I tried Yaang Come directly at the above website and they responded promptly but were sold out. I did all this about 3 months before our trip. I then contacted two different tour guides/travel agents in Thailand that a friend of ours had used the month before. Both were able to get me a room for the timeframe we requested and both had rates that were about 20 per cent below that being quoted on the Yaang Come webside or on Swadee. I inquired as to why and they informed me that some local travel agents who do a lot of work with the hotel get better rates and availability. We ended up using one of these Thailand agents to book all our rooms in Thailand. He got me a rate at the Marriott in Phuket that was about $50 per night lower than I could get with my elite status through Marriott%26#39;s website directly. I have confirmed with both hotels that our reservations have been made and that they have it designated as full payment. So I am keeping my fingers crossed that all is OK when we arrive. We did have to pay 30 days prior to arrival, but they did not ask for the front and back of our credit card. We had to provide the card number and then I called the credit card company to make sure nothing else would be charged. It wasn%26#39;t.
I hope yours turns out well.
broder,
Thank you for your response.
I have not heard back from Yaang Come, and I think that I probably won%26#39;t as Trails of Indochine cancelled and confused them.
Could you give me the name of the website where you did book?
This will be my last attempt, and then I will look for another hotel
Thanks
Bev
I obviously won%26#39;t hear from the hotel, as I am sure that Trails of Indochine, has somehow managed to block my reservation attempt.
So anyone please suggest another hotel in similar location.
Like to be in the hub.
Want best hotel available, as my husband is much more fussy about accomodation than I am.
We are staying at the four seasons in Bangkok, but I am aware that the four seasons in Chaing Mai is not in town, so it is not an option.
Too bad Yaang Come sounded perfect
Thanks in advance
Bev
Try Baan Orapin I am staying there in jan. I understand it has a different feel then yaan. Very good reviews have a look. They were very promt in emailing me back. good luck
Well happy ending.
Last night I sent a very long e-mail to Yaang Come, explaining the situation in detail, including the demand for a photocopy of my AMEX (front and back).
I received an e-mail this morning apologizing for the long delay in responding, and confirming the room.
So thanks all for your responses, I really do appreciate this forum, and the very nice people who come here.
Erley,
I am glad that you finally resolved your accomodation issues with YCV, however, I just want to mentioned that the next ';luxury'; modern accomodation around the corner from YCV is ';The Chedi';.
Bev:
Glad you got it resolved. I%26#39;ll let you know how our stay at the Yaang Come does. We leave in 6 days!
