How much on average is a hotel in Bangkok. Maybe 3 star or so.
I thought Thailand was suppose to be cheap but all the hotels on the internet state 120 USD and over.
How much Baht/HotelYes even i would say Hotels in Bangkok are very Cheap.we paid $30 for a Standard Room and we stayed at First Hotel i guess it comes under 2-3 Star as per the website category. If you are checking for the rooms during the peak season or may be duirng the New Year then it could be a different story. Check AsiaRooms.Com or any other similar site and check for the normal days and you will agree Thailand Hotels are cheap.
How much Baht/HotelChancer I wouldnt go after the %26#39;stars%26#39; as such... just decide what you are willing to pay and then you can find some beauties in that price range... A great place to start is www.travelfish.org - they put accommodation into %26#39;backpacker%26#39; %26#39;flashpacker%26#39; %26#39;midrange%26#39; %26#39;topend%26#39; and they are an independant site who provides links to the hotel websites, along with independent reviews from their writers and also fellow travellers.....
You can find some bargains in every budget and also some ripoffs... you just need to set your limit and then go from there.
For my upcoming 6 weeks I am staying in $10AUD rooms and I am staying in $200AUD rooms, but mostly our rooms are around the $30-40AUD mark and they are look gorgeous with great reviews!
If you give people on here a budget and where you are going I am sure we can all give you some suggestions but try Travelfish for some ideas, or even www.sawadee.com (who I used for several bookings)

Thanks for your help and suggestions. I appreicate it.
I am going there for the first time in about a week and a half.
One last question....
what are some good areas to visit while I am there?
Thx. again!
I havent been yet but Pattaya wouldnt be in my must visit places.... What interests do you have? Do you want to party? Age? Do you want chilled out? Lots of activities? Temples trekking snorkelling day trips?
late 20%26#39;s will be there for about 10 days or so.
Some partying but nothing %26#39;sleezy%26#39;, i think Puket would be too much.
Beaches would be nice too.
any ideas?
thx.
While I havent been there as Khunwilko kindly pointed out I think that you would find Phuket more your taste than Pattaya! Patong may have its element of sleaze as well but from what EVERYONE has told me Pattaya is really in your face!
Why dont you look at the other islands such as Ko Phangan, Ko Samui , Phi Phi or Ko Lanta... or just stay at Kata Beach on Phuket... Ko Phangan has the full moon party which may or may not be your scene but that depends if you are there over the full moon.. you could go to the other side of the Island.. have a look at Thong Nai Pan Noi...
Also have a look at the Lonely Planet Thorn Tree forum....

Hi Emjay,
Thanks for your response. Sorry-that dude was rude, your were just trying to help me.
i will look up some of the places you mentioned. I heard of a couple of them, but not the first and last ones you mentioned.
I will take a look.
Thank you:)
Dont apologise, he obviously took me the wrong way... I have no prejudice about anyone, but I also understand that some people may be uncomfortable with ladyboys or the in your face s3x scene! Mai pen rai... Attacking someone for giving advice seems to me to be more prejudice than anything I have had to say!
Try the Travelfish website or if you have a few dollars the best thing you can do is buy a lonely planet guide and have a look through... That gives you a good rundown of the different areas although Travelfish.org will have alot of info on the different areas...
Emjay, are you learning the Thai language ? Respect !
Sawat di khrab. Pen jang ngai ? Khun phut phasa thai dai nid nohj ? Mai luem: mai kin phed mak ! Lew phop kan iek. Lakon.
Hahahaha! Jawadee, I know a few words at this stage, but whether I am pronouncing any of it right is another thing!!!!!
I do have my Thai phrasebook, have hired a couple of local guides on my first two days (who will hopefully help me extend my range), and I fully intend to use the %26#39;learn thai%26#39; language program on the plane over!!!!
Would you like to translate that?! Or do I not want to know?! Hehehehe!
