Security of Belongings at Beaches

Hey all

I was just wondering what is the normal thing to do at the beach with regards to bringing your possessions to the beach. Is it safe to leave our bags on the beach when we go for a swim or should be get a padlock and padlock it to the beach chair?

Cheers

I wouldent leave anything of value if there is no one to watch it.

The people that hire out the beach lounges and umbrellas are lovely but it is a busy beach and as at anywhere you wouldent leave things just lying there.

We have never had a problem on Patong Beach with anything but I Have been on the beach when people have had their belongings stolen.

Ask for '; Lucky Phil '; he is straight across from the Patong merlin and hires out the lounges and umbrellas, also get%26#39;s you your drinks and will see that your property is looked after when you are in swimming or walking, ect.

You must try the beach restaurants at the northen end of the beach.

Great for a coldie in the afternoon or evening or snack or meal and good to wacth the goings on, on the beach...Cheers.

We have left towels suncreams, and clothing, books etc,and have returned to find it all there.Would spot a pair of hubby%26#39;s union jack shorts being worn by somebody anyway lol !! (only joking)

I have a little container, with a string attatches, that we put a couple of hundred baht in for drinks etc,,it screws up tight so if we go for a dip it doesn%26#39;t get wet.Don%26#39;t usually take the camera,or anything of value to the beach anyway.

I found the people at beach trustworthy but thats not to say I would leave my money/ camera in sight. Best to bring a little money along with you enough for drinks and prehaps some for buying things off sellers- prehaps equiv to $20 AUD. When in water just keep a little eye from distance every now and then. Remember things easly visable are the easiest targets so just put a towel over your things to keep the opertunist thief from running off with your stuff just like you would in Perth.
