I am so pleased to have read some nice reviews of this hotel and also of Khao lak, a bit disappointed that the hotel is 15mins drive away, was really hoping we could just walk into town. Not to worry though. We are flying out on the 17th Jan for 2 weeks, for our belated honeymoon.
How has Khao Lak developed since the Tsunami??? is the damage still very visible.

The location is beautiful, interesting - though a little bit remote. But, really, the drive into town is short.
There are three Thai restaurants in the immediate area of the BWPG - some info and photos on that at:

More info and photos on Khao Lak itself and the overall recovery at:

Links to scans of maps of the area can be found at the home page there - and I am scanning a November 2006 map this weekend - so it may be on line in a few days.
You can certainly still find tsunami damage - the coastal area around Khao Lak was the hardest hit area in Thailand. But, the recovery has been fast and strong. It is hard to believe how much has been done in less than two years.
Personally, on my last visit (last Saturday), I found the place full of optimism and excitement about their first real high season since 2003.
