Hi, we are looking to travel to Thailand/Phuket in March 2007. What should we be budgetting in so far as airfares from Brisbane and nightly accomodations in a mid/upper range hotel?
Just a price guide in AUD is all I%26#39;m after. Thanks Heaps.
Advice Pleeze!!! : )
Singapore airlines have got some good fares available directly on their website for travel between 16/1/2007 %26amp; 31/3/2007 (as long as you depart before 31/3 you can take advantage of these fares). They have to be booked quickly but are $924 return including taxes, they are a great airline.

Advice Pleeze!!! : )
Return flights @ AUD1,000 to 1,200 per adult...
Nice 4* or 5* hotel room with breakfast from AUD 100 to 200 per day. Phuket has better discount of mid and low season than Samui... as Samui is seen as having more sunshine that time of year.
Meals (other than breakfast) AUD20 to 30 per person per day.....
transport, tours and drinks.... well.. depends a lot on you. Average tour is 1,200 Baht to 1,800 Bahts.... Drinks.... 100 to 200 Baht..... A car for a day... from 1,000 Baht.... plus petrol.... Short taxi trip.. 40 to 60 Baht... About 300 or 500 Baht gets you from airport to hotel..
Yes, the Singapore airlies flight is great value.. I managed to get 2 tickets on March 31... lucky as it%26#39;s the beginning of the School holiday in Qld.. I actually already posted this.. the very day I found the special....
Thanks ever so much for your help guys!
Mosegrison, what is Thailand like in April? Is there any particular reason you are travelling at that time or is it simply a convenient time for you?
Hi firebucket
We thought of going in March 2007, but most of the hotels are still at the high rate/night. We arrive the 31st March and are paying almost twice as much for a superior room at the Amari for that night than we would from the 16th April. If you are thinking of going in March, pick up some current travel brochures from travel agents as they have the prices till March 31st, then compare them with prices you can book yourself on line. Some of the more popular rooms like Holiday Inn Pool access rooms in the Busakorn wing may already be booked out, we couldn%26#39;t get one for April. Some web sites do a deposit rather than paying total cost.
Try these sawadee, res24, precisionreservation, hoteltravel, bestthaihotel, asiarooms, asiatravel, bangkokian, circleofasia, morethailand, Worldres, holidays2thailand, planetholiday, asiabesthotel asiareservations.net, thailandhotels.net, asiahotels.net,

Sunsets4us... I too like the Busakorn wing at the Holiday inn... spent a few days there a couple of years ago and noticed that it had a very good offer.. like pay 4 stay 7 or something like that last July.... but not likely to be cheap till after Easter... But do check again after Christmas.. sometimes good specials appear all of a sudden... and not all hotels/resorts use the same dates for low season...
firebucket ... late March and April is, I guess, the hottest time of year in Thailand with the build up to the Monsoon.... however on the coast it%26#39;s usually quite nice... I guess the best time is around Christmas, January and February.. For me it has to do with vacation time... so (for me)... anytime is a good time... Just have to choose where you go... and hope for the best.... Around October/November you are more likely to get some rainy days....
Hi Mosegrisen
We were looking at staying in the pool access rooms from 16th -22nd April, they were still over $200 night but we tried 5 different booking sites and they all said they were double booked already. We had the choice of the villa rooms or the studio rooms, but we managed to get pool access at the Merlin Beach, so we are quite happy with that. the hardest thing I found was trying to decide where to stay.

Thanks for all the info guys!!
I am looking at a return fare for $966 return in early March 2007 which seems to be quite good??
I can%26#39;t decide on accomodation!!
Just a quick question though, is it worth doing a stop-over in SIngapore for a couple of days on the way to Phuket or should I just head straight there?
It just seems like an opportune time to quickly experience another country, rather than just the airport? What do you all think?
If you havent been to Singapore before then I would definetly do a stop over, it doesnt have the atmosphere of Thailand but is certainly worth a visit. You can visit the Zoo, Sentosa Island, sip a Singapore Sling in the Long Bar or High Tea at Raffles (beautiful hotel!), wander around little India %26amp; China Town, visit the restaurants %26amp; bars at Clark Quay , enjoy a cruise on the river, shop on Orchard Road etc etc. I%26#39;m sure you would enjoy it.
forgot to add, if you are booking with Singapore airlines they often have a little booklet that you can pick up at their counter at Singapore airport which offers lots of coupons (2 for 1 to the zoo, sentosa etc).
