Le Meridien Beach resort or JW Marriott hotel

Hi there,

Well after a lot of research I`ve now narrowed it down to staying at either Le Meriden Beach or JW Marriott in Phuket when we come next year.

As I have walking difficulties due to a back problem I was wondering if anyone could advise which they felt would be best for me to stay at. I would like a quiet hotel with a nice beach and a choice of restaurants, but really need to make sure I haven`t got to climb loads of stairs to get to a room or restaurant.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks, Di

Hi Di:

I can%26#39;t answer your question about JW Marriott yet but we are staying there the first week of December. I%26#39;ll post a review of our trip and try to let you know if it has a lot of stairs etc.

I would email the RM and ask them direct, the hotel is built into the hillside, so you would need to know about steps from pool to main hotel etc. ,.

Thanks for your replies.

I will look forward to your views after your holiday Broder. Hope you have a great time.

We were at the Marriott in June/July, although we were in a villa (timeshare) so not the hotel. However, all the amenities (pool, restaurants, spa, grounds, staff, etc.) are shared. I did a trip report on the Marriott Phuket Beach Club recently.

The Marriott property is spread out over a large section with different buildings. However, I think that the JW hotel buildings are more in the center, whereas the builidngs for the villas are located further out. So, you could try to request a hotel room in a building closer to the main building in the center, where the lobby , most restaurants and main pool are located. You could try to go to the Marriott or Marriott Vacations website as there might be a map/layout of the Marriott grounds to give you an idea.

All buildings have elevators and overall the property is flat and not on a hillside or anything like that. Lots of restaurant on site, although we only tried, but really liked the Siam Deli %26amp; bakery, as we mainly used our villa kitchen. Very nice place to relax and great hotel staff!

Hi Royal Meriden is well located and fairly central to the nightlife etc, from my research the mariott is a fare way out of the centre of things, i previously stayed at the Meriden Yaht club and that was a bit isolated, when we return hopefully in July i would chose the Le Meridien.
