People keep bringing up sand flies or sand flees on Koh Chang. Whatever they are called, I get the feeling that the problem is limited to the Klong Prao area, if it exists at all?
Anyone have experiences? A friend of ours is allergic to these little bugs and we will be visiting lonely beach in February
Sand flies (or sand flees?)
Certain times of year you can get quite a few sandflies. Mainyl in areas where there isnt any wind and also there%26#39;s old wood - this is the kind of habitat that they like, so if you have a resort where the sunloungers are amongst trees or if you get people lying on a quiet bit of sand and there%26#39;s old tree trunks on the shore then you tend to more sandflies.
They%26#39;re hard to notice, you sont see or hear them and they look like cigarette ash - about 2mm long and grey %26amp; white. So it%26#39;s only when they bite you that you notice them.
They arent a big problem for most visitors to Koh Chang though.
