I agree the speed boats are the way to go

try and get a smaller one maybe 12 to 15 people

just ask when you book tour same price but i like less people

more fun and easer to talk and meet new friends.

agree speed boat the way to go. but consider a day or two at a resort rather than a rushed day tour. we stayed 4 nights recently and saw the frantic day trippers. book a cheap (but nice) hotel around the tongsai bay restaurant/nightlife area such as phi phi hotel.

Recently witnessed the express boat tour and it was a joke - people packed like sardines.

The speed boat can be a bit full also but at least you tend to get a seat.
