hi, At Pakasai Resort , 5-10 minutes walk to shopping center . I reccommend Aonang Villa Resort located very close by to shopping center and the beach. http://www.aonangvilla.com/location.htm

Hi - am staying at the Pakasai in 2 weeks time - love shopping and eating ( ! ) so will post full details on my return ! Hope this helps !
Thank you very much - would be great to read to your report on return from Krabi... Hope you have a great time!!!
Cheers, Peter Chan
Just my opinion but I think these are two of the best hotels in their price range and 2 years ago I couldn%26#39;t fault Ao Nang Villa....but.....there was a change of management and their very high standards slipped a little. Meanwhile, I have noticed that Pakasai manages to keep their staff for a long time which is usually a good reflection on the hotel and its management!
Thanks Egg Chaser...
how do you rate the position of the Pakasai Resort and the level on qualtiy?? thanks agian for all your help... Peter Chan
Hi Peter..Haven%26#39;t noseyed round the Pakasai, but the resort photo%26#39;s look nice.It%26#39;s only about 5 mins walk down to Ao Nang centre. There is a supermarket on the corner,as you turn left out of the hotel. There is also a circular thatched bar, just in the entrance to Pakasai, and we had a drink in there, when walking past cos it was happy hour,(every evening).
Just past the supermarket is an open style thai place. We didn%26#39;t eat there, but it was packed every night, with locals and tourists, and it was low season. As you walk towards the seafront, the Full Moon Bar is on the right, nice people, and cheap drinks.
There are plenty of choices to eat,and my fave place is K.R.Cuisine,on the seafront, small place, but excellent food. There is also an irish bar set back down an alley, further along the seafront (nr princeville resort)..and we had a good pub style meal in there.
If you turn right out of the hotel up the slight hill, about 3 mins walk is a good place for steak.It%26#39;s straight across from the Krabi Thai Village hotel.
In the centre set back down an alley, are some bars..we love the K.R.Bar (same management as cuisine). If you walk up to mac donalds,on the opposite side of the road is a lane with about 12 bars with livelier nightlife.Umberella bar was fun.You can jump in a motorbike taxi for 20 baht per person anywhere in Ao nang..great for worse for wear trips home : )..or when you can%26#39;t be bothered to walk.
Hope this helps..
Tiffin,
Thanks very much for the reply - it is very informative and much appreciated!
Cheers Peter Chan
I%26#39;m staying at the Pakasai at teh beginning of December 06 for 5 nights. Can%26#39;t wait and will post ind epth report with pics when I get back! whoo hoo!!
Following on from Tiffin, two points. The mini mart on the corner has everything at about double the price of the 7/11 on the main street and the open air food centre just past it is not only the cheapest food in Ao Nang but also the best (hence it%26#39;s full of locals, both Thai and expat).
Egg,
can you tell me where the open air food centre is in relation to the mini mart? Am i right that we%26#39;re talking about the mart on the corner of the shopping strip, near where you would turn up to the Thai Village Resort ect?
There used to be a bar on the right going up the same road...Mama%26#39;s i think...anyone know what happened to them?
Thanks,
Mal
