buying a digital camera in bangkok? With the current exchange rates it is almost as cheap at home these days.
Do your research and check what you want and the prices.
If you buy in Thailand you can get 7% Vat tourist refund as you leave.
Best places Pantip Plaza or MBK just make sure that the place you buy can do the Tourist VAT refund.
Enjoy your trip
buying a digital camera in bangkok?I%26#39;ve just bought a fuji 510 in the uk from jessops - my wife was over from bangkok and was of the opinion that generally cameras, if on any sort of offer, were cheaper than they are in pantip plaza. Certainly when i looked in MBK in August there were no real outstanding bargains.
I always do a bit of price comparying for electronics when I%26#39;m in Bangkok and have not found anything cheaper (same quailty - not generic) than I can buy in the US. I%26#39;m not sure about the prices in Ireland though.
Cameras are not cheaper in Bangkok.
After paying the thai VAT ( and not getting a refund because you buy it at a store that does not participate in the VAT scheme, or your total value of purchases does not exceed the VAT for tourist refund target ), you may end up buying a camera that costs much more than in your home country.
I bought a Nikon Digital Camera from IT city at Pantip and am very happy with it
If i am not wrong you can get the 7% VAT refund if youbuy it from IT City
Yeh they sre not cheaper, also bear in mind the warranty incase you have any probs. The airport had a few bargains though
