HI,
i have a 22.30 arrival and 0700 departure at the new aiport this weekend. Any tips on sleepability of the airport or nearby cheap hotels or hostel...not really able to afford the new novotel..about $400 more than i can pay!

accommodation near new airportThe Novotel is presently the other ';on airport'; hotel at the moment, but there are some others not too far away. Check this thread:

accommodation near new airportThe Novotel Suvarnabhumi is about AUD 250 for a twin including tax, service and breakfast ( about USD 193 ). There is another Novotel about 25 minutes away by taxi, the Novotel Bangna which is about AUD 100 ( USD 77 ) on same basis, it%26#39;s a pleasant enough Novotel for the night.

The Grand Inn Come is very roughly 20 mins away or thereabouts, AUD 53 single, 62 twin ( USD 41 / 48 )

Royal Princess Srinakarin is another option
Just to add that arriving that time of night and with a very early departure traffic downtown won%26#39;t be that bad, it%26#39;s not really going to make much difference heading to a hotel downtown that is closer to the airport side of town as to staying at any that are say 20-30 minutes away. I would perhaps say that unless you are staying right at the airport at the Novotel you might be just as well off staying downtown.
thanks! Will look at these hotels.
In looking for a less expensive hotel near new airport, I found this site:

One looks pretty good for $16.00 U.S.

You may like to check out the Louis Lounge Day rooms at the airport.
