Hi :)
My girlfriend (soon to be wife) and I are going on Honeymoon for 3 weeks in Australia in April 2007. On our way back from Australia we will have a one-night stopover in Bangkok. We will arrive at 23:00 on a Friday and leave again the night between Saturday and Sunday at 00:50.
I%26#39;ve been to Bangkok once before and done all the major sights and that was back in April %26#39;06. I stayed a few nights in the Sukhumvit area in the President Solitaire and it was fine and I%26#39;m actually thinking about booking it again, but considering the weird hours we coming in and flying out, are we better off chosing one of the airport hotels?
My idea is for us to arrive on the Friday, go directly to the hotel, go to bed and get a good nights sleep. Then get up early Saturday and take a tour of the Royal Palace, Wat Pho, boat trip on the River, Chinatown ++ and then go back to the hotel, relax a few hours and leave for the airport after we%26#39;ve had a nice dinner somewhere.
So I need your help in chosing the hotel from these criteria:
* We%26#39;ll need the room from midnight to around 21-22:00 the following day - is that possible at all - without booking two nights?
* would you prefer a hotel close to the airport or one in the city centre?

You will have a job getting away with one night hotel booking as most places make the 1/2 day rate end at 6pm.
Depart 0050
airport 21:50
leave Hotel area 21:10
You may get 1/2 day rate if you check out before 6 and collect luggage from hotel later. Maybe even have dinner in the hotel restaurant.
Anything else come on back here

Yes, I agree.
There%26#39;s no way a hotel in their right mind is going to give you a half day discount on these timings.
I just wanted to add that there is little point staying near the airport. The new airport is not far away, and as long as you travel in off peak hours you should be able to fly through to any central hotel in no time, the taxis don%26#39;t hang about.
