We arrive on Koh Tao on 25 december and intend to stay for 10 days or so. What are the chances of finding reasonable accommodation on arrival ? Any suggestions as to how to go about finding a place to stay on our arrival /

i would say no chance. I have lived in Thailand for 5 years and run a big travel website for Thailand. For the past few months people have been booking hotels for christmas and the new year. Now nearly all the hotels on the islands are full. Another time of year i would say go for it, but at that time too risky. Best to book to avoid any problems. take a look at www.thailandparadise.com/koh-tao.htm or search for a few small hotels diect and send an email. good luck
Koh Tao no pre-booking !I totally agree. We went to Koh Tao in February planning on finding decent accommodation on spec and it wasn%26#39;t easy. We moved accommodation 4 times until we got what we wanted.
