Bangkok tour itnierary suggsetions please?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone might be able to give some suggestions of the best way to split up three days of sightseeing in Bangkok, so that I can get to see the following places, allowing us to see them in leisurely way?

I would like to visit The Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaeo (Temple of Emerald Buddha), Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha) and Wat Arun (The Temple of Dawn) in more detail if possible.

I would also like to see Wat Trimit (Temple of the Golden Buddha), Wat Benchamabophit (The Marble Temple) and Wat Saket (The Golden Mount), but if I can only see these last few briefly that would be fine.

I would also like to visit Jim Thompson`s House and the Vimanmek Mansion if time would allow us to.

I will then have another day free to visit Ayutthaya and one more day to visit Kanchanaburi.

I look forward to hearing your suggestions.

Thanks Di

The Temple of dawn is best reached by the boats that cross the chao praya. The others are easily reached by cab. Using busses in Bangkok is a bit of an art that I chose not to try without my Thai friend being with me.

If there is one thing about Bangkok i%26#39;d stress- it is watch your step.

I constantly found faults in the sidewalk..steps down where you would not expect it..very high curbs etc. Has nothing to do with the charm of the city or the people- just something I learned early on.

I think i%26#39;d just have the tour desk at your hotel write down in Thai each of the places you wanted to go and show them to the driver.

Hi Gatekeeper,

No doubt there are experts on this site that can offer additional advice but I have been planning my 1st Thailand trip for quite sometime and like you, don%26#39;t want a really hectic schedule.

We have worked out that we can do Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Emerald Buddha and the Grand Palace followed by Chinatown and Wat Trimit in one day, being picked up at 10.00am and should be back at the hotel by 3.30pm.

You should be able to tie in Vimanmek Mansion with Wat Benchamabophit with Wat Saket as they are all in the same area.

You could follow on to Jim Thompson%26#39;s from either of these itineraries.

I am sure that someone will correct me if I am wrong but you will need two days to do the above if you want to do them in a leisurely way.

Good luck with your planning

Hi Di

Balimoon is right. You need at least 2 days to see all places you mentioned in Bangkok in a leisure way. If you want to see all those places in one day, you still can but not in leisure way and only few mins each place

I suggest you go to Wat Trimit early in the morning like 8 am and then go to the Grand Palace %26amp; Emerrald Buddha, Wat Pho, Wat Arun, Wat Saket, Vimanmek Mansion, Wat Benchamabophit adn then Jim Thompson. That%26#39;s very tight schedule!

You need at least 1.5 hr for the Grand Palace %26amp; Emerrald Buddha and 1 hr of Vimanmek Mansion. These two places are close early in the afternoon (3.30 pm).

OH...you%26#39;d better skip some places because you have to spare time for traveling from place to place too.

Good luck

Celine

Hi ,

Thanks for your replies.

Reading my post again I did not make it clear about how much time we have. Apologies for this.

We have five days in Bangkok. Two to see Ayutthaya and Kanchanaburi. This then leaves us another three days to do the other trips.

Can anyone suggest the best way to split these places up into three leisurely visits?

Thanks again.

You can do all those places in a leisure way with no problem. Actually you can do it withing two days.

1st day: Wat Trimit, The Grand Palace %26amp; Temple of Emerald Buddha, Wat Pho and Wat Arun

2st day: Wat Saket, Vimanmek mansion, Wat Benchambophit and Jim Thompson%26#39;s house.

If you want to slit in three days, just go to Jim Thompson in the last day because Wat Saket, Vimanmek mansion and Wat Benchambophit are in close proximity.

Good luck

Celine
