Sofitel Phokeethra Krabi

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any info about this new hotel? It is listed as opening October 06, just thought someone may have further info or know somwhere I can find out more (the sofitel website has very little regarding anything!).Thanks.

Sofitel Phokeethra Krabi

Have driven past it a few times in the last few months, and it has the making of a great resort. I%26#39;m pretty sure it will have the most hotel beds of any hotel in the area.

Not sure it will be ready in October though, looking at the building site at present.

Sofitel Phokeethra Krabi

On behalf of Public Relation of Sofitel Phokeethra Krabi Resort %26amp; Spa will be opened in November 2006 at Klong Muang Beach of Krabi, Thailand, I would like to introduce our hotel with five stars standard where it is the largest one in Krabi. Our hotel is surrounded by tropical vegetation and pristine rainforest. It is very comfortable for transportation. We have many stylish restaurants and bars by serving of graceful staffs. We provide exquisite service and also business %26amp; meeting facilities.

If they think November 2006... With the delay in most building projects due to shortage of construction workers.... They would be hard pressed to get it open this yesr...

We%26#39;ve been following the building of this hotel for nearly 3 years now and information has been very hard to come by, even from the executive offices in Bangkok. Of the 3 hotels rushing to open this year (plus Phulay and Ayodhya Suites) it is the most likely to open as it%26#39;s moving very quickly, but November may be a bit fast! No doubt, when it finally does i\open it will be lovely with an absolutely massive swimming pool. I can%26#39;t wait to try it!!!!

I had a look at this hotel back in March...its massive...and seemed like a long way from completion then. Its going to have quite an effect on the surrounding area which is one of the areas I prefer to holiday in as its quiet. Just hope the area does not get as developed as Ao Nang has.

Wonder if the guests will realise that between them and the beach is a road which massive lorries run along to the nearby cement/aggregate works.

When we visited nearly 3 years ago they hadn%26#39;t started building this hotel but we were told about it, also that the cement works would be closed once the hotels are up and running, apparently they will be building more than one large hotel along that stretch. Lets hope the Sofitel is nothing like the Sheraton because it is so big and spread out and more like butlins. I would chose the Tubkaak any day over these large hotels.

Actually in terms of number of rooms it seems to have more than the Sheraton but in a smaller area. I wonder how many more boat trips visits it will add to places like Koh Hong. There seemed to be a lot of preparation of the land in the area for development...a lot of the mangrove had been cut back.

Have found more info and reservation details on the accor website

It does look impressive and the rates are very competitive on asiarooms.com.
