From Malaysia to Thailand

Hi fellow tripadvisors

We are currently n Penang and are looking at travelling to Bangkok by train, can anyone please tell us what the process is when we get to the border with Thailand in respect to visas? Are they issued at the border? Is it just cases that we get off the train to get our passport stamped and then get back on?

As I remember it, you get off, have your passport stamped and get back on. I see you are in Penang - it%26#39;s about the same price to fly from Penang (the way I usually do it) with Airasia. I remember seeing an office of theirs somewhere around The Komtar shopping centre in Georgetown.
