Hi Ian,
Your helpful advice posted across the forums are great. 3 of us are coming down to Koh Chang to start a sailing holiday, we are arriving on the Sunday evening - so we are fresh for setting off early the next day.
Had a look at some good hotels around Koh Chang but not sure if there are access roads to the bay , do you have any knowledge or recommendation for something near the marina at Ao Salak Phet?
best regards
Gordon

You dont want to stay on the west coast as it%26#39;s 50km from Salakphet and getting to the boat %26amp; back will take up 2 hours every day.
Who are you sailing with? If it%26#39;s Gulf Charters, they sail out of a pier at Island View , Salakphet. Here you can get an AC room built on the pier only a few metres from the yacht moorings for 900 baht/night. Stay here and you%26#39;ll meet up with a few yachties and a couple of guys who have their boats moored permannently in Salakphet so can give you all the info you need on sailing in the area. ( I was out with them on a yacht last week.)
Email Dieter, the German owner of Island View and he%26#39;ll sort you out with a room and pick up from the ferry pier etc - he first sailed to Koh Chang around 14 years ago. Email %26lt; islandviewresort@web.de %26gt;
Otherwise there is pretty good accommodation at Koh Chang Marina, Salakphet - where a couple of smaller yachts are moored ( the water here isnt deep enough for larger boats)

Ian,
Thank you very much, yes it is with Gulf Charters. Will follow up your advice.

Hi again Ian,
I see there is a place called Salakphet Seafood and Resort, very close to where our boat is being collected from. Any knowledge of this place for standard of accomodation, food etc.
Also we need to gather a lot of provisions before we set sail, is there a place nearby that we can quickly get to and back to boat on our first day of sail?
Tried looking on web for some info ';Island View Resort';, but cannot see anything?

Salakphet Seafood is a very nice restaurant - the best in the area and the rooms are very spacious. The rooms are all near the restaurant so in high season they%26#39;d be a bit noisy, but at this time of year you%26#39;ll be fine.
It%26#39;s literally a 5 minute walk from Salakphet Seafood to the Island View Pier .
Island View has a website but it%26#39;s all in German at the moment:
http://erlebnisreisen-thailand.de/
Keep an eye out for Charlie %26amp; Sam who bothhave their yachts moored on the pier - Charlie%26#39;s is the big twin masted 80 year old German boat - you cant miss it, and Sam%26#39;s is the grey hulled yacht near the northern end of the pier. Both are good guys to chat to about sailing in the area.
What sort of boat were you on Godron?
I was out on our speedboat a couple of times %26amp; I saw a nice catamaran moored off Koh Wai on the 19th and another large yacht %26#39;Talae%26#39; moored there on 20th.
Hi Ian,
We have not been yet (it%26#39;s next week).
We are on a monohull Jenneau 42 ( Narantip I think), a bareboat hire - 3 of us sailing, of of the three is skippering, whilst us other 2 sit back and have the drinks and sunseek!
If you are about, drop by for a beer!
Gordon
