Hi Ted,
Hope you can help re this question. I am flying from Phuket/Bangkok return with Nok air in February, and got a really good price - B3268 return, including taxes. However, that doesn%26#39;t include the departure tax, of 535B each way.
I know you travel fairly frequently to Bangkok, with fly12go - their price is B4400, also including all taxes, but I don%26#39;t know if that includes departure tax, as their web-site doesn%26#39;t mention it.
Thanks for any info you can give
Kathleen
PS On the return, I will be catching a connecting flight to Australia, so will not be leaving the airport. Will I still pay departure tax?
TedKarma - departure tax on internal flights
I%26#39;ve never paid a departure tax on an internal flight. If Nok Air says it isn%26#39;t included - it must mean you pay it somewhere, but I have no idea where. Or - they add it in when you pay. Just another way of making website prices seem lower than competitors?
I used 1-2-Go mostly and never had a problem - or a surprise.
SOMEWHERE - I am sure you will pay the departure tax from Thailand to an out of country destination.

Hi Kathy,
We are flying with Thai Airways, BKK to Krabi and Phuket to BKK and we don%26#39;t have to pay a departure tax, only when we leave BKK for UK.
Hope this helps?
Sarah
International departure tax is payable no matter which international airport you depart from.... But only when you leave Thailand... this will now be added to your ticket price at time of booking.... and dosn%26#39;t apply on domestic flights...
Airport tax is payable on all domestic flight.. but have for a long time been charged when you book your flight.. part of the fuel/airport tax addon..
Here are the current rules:
Up to 31st. Jan 2007 Thailand Airport Tax for International destinations is payable to the Airport Authorities in Thailand upon departure.
International departures from 01st. Feb. 2007 onwards, the Airport Tax will be included in the Total Amount Due payable when a booking is made via any of our booking channels.
Bookings made as of 4th. September 2006 for 01st. Feb. 2007 onward travel, the Airport Tax has been included in the Total Amount Due. There are no changes for the payment and collection for domestic departure as the Airport Tax has always been included in the Total Amount Due.
Hi Kathy48,
My wife and I are flying Bangkok to Phuket return with Air Asia,
Price was Air fare 1586 B. taxes 2679.72B. total 4275.72B.
We thought this was good for two fares.
You will have to pay departure tax for your return flight to Aus.
It was 1000B but it goes up in Jan.
You are lucky we are flying from Bris. via Melb. so we are going to have a long flight.

Hi all
Thanks for your replies - I understand that the departure tax should only be charged on an international flight - but I can%26#39;t understand why the Nok air conditions of travel have a separate clause which states that departure tax of 535baht (500+7% VAT) per person per trip is payable.
It is definately NOT included in the breakdown of the total cost, as are all the other taxes. So I presumed I would have to pay this when leaving Phuket, then again at Bangkok for the return flight.
I%26#39;ll adopt the Girl Guide motto - be prepared! I%26#39;ll assume I have to pay it, then it%26#39;ll be a bonus if I don%26#39;t!
Thanks again

Hi Hervey
When are you flying? The best deal I could get with airasia was 6417 THB for two, including taxes. Nok air wasn%26#39;t much more, the equivalent of approx. $AU5.50 over the total, and their times suited us better. (I%26#39;m going in February).
Have a good holiday!
Kathy48.... you only pay the Departure tax once.... when you go through immigration..... at the International departure section of the Airport...
It%26#39;s not complicated at all... At Phuket... If it%26#39;s low cost carrier where you are not able to check your luggage through to your International flight, you don%26#39;t pay anything, you are on a domestic/internal flight... .... airport tax has already been paid....
At BKK.. you collect your baggage and check in for your International flight... Pay departure tax.... go through immigration..... and get to the gate/plane.
Hi Mosegrisen
I know it SHOULDN%26#39;T be complicated, but when I see an additional clause on my Nok air total cost print-out, which definately states that departure tax IS payable, it does confuse the issue.
Anyway, as I said before, I%26#39;ll be prepared, and if I don%26#39;t have to pay it, I%26#39;ll have and extra B1070 to spend!
