Tailor - How long to get a proper suit made

Hi,

We are in Bangkok for a limited time in Feb 07 - only 2 days, is it possible to get a quality suit made in quick time?? Or is it best to get suits made in Krabi - we are there much longer?? thanks for your help - peter

Tailor - How long to get a proper suit made

no not enough time but you could be lucky.

Provided everything goes right first time and that I believe would be unusual you could do it.

First morning find your taylor and make all your selections.

Afternoon/early evening first fitting

Second morning second fitting

Second/final afternoon/evening second fitting.

Now the problem occures if the suit has slight problems then you have two choices hope the changes get done and have your suite shipped to you or even clooect it as you come back through Bangkok, either way you leave no possibility for corrective action .

Time for a good suit 3 - 5 days would be a minimum. Please dont go to one of those places that offer 24 hour suits with no fittings, you will more than likely not get what you want.

You need time to get quality suites made. You also need time to find your taylor.

A good taylor should offer you a first fitting next day with a second fitting one or two days later then have minor changes made if necessary.

In the end the choice is always yours but I would recommend you wait 2 days is not enough time.

Can you recommend a ';good'; tailor ?

Staying in Siam area, if you know of one that would be a great help!

Thanks

There is it seems a high turn over of staff in some of these sweat shops that the taylors use, as most, not all, no not have their own workshops.

I have only found one taylor shop that has its own cutters and stitchers and that is on Sukhumvit 4.

However I would be loathed to recommend any shop as perspectives change.

What I will say is I use Nana Taylors on Sukhumvit 4. This shop is past the Warburi on the right hand side oposite the Nanatai mansion hotel.

Thanks for that... is it far from the Novotel Siam Square?

The next choice is to contact a tailor here and have the person to standby and come to the hotel the moment you reach, take your measurements, bring the sample swatches along so that you can choose your material, please also know what you want.

Then the next evening arrange to have a fitting done and hopefully all is well and by the next day you can have your suit

I know a tailor that might be able to meet you and take you measurements

It is at Khao San Rd

If you want the numner i will post it for you

If you are desperate for a tailor made suit, then you have one other alternative with the tailors in Bangkok. As much as I second the above recommendation about not getting it done in 24 hours since you dont have enough time for fittings, but there is a way. If you drop into the tailors as soon as you arrive early in the morning, get one fitting done in the evening, and a second early next morning, your suits will be ready in the late afternoon of the day of your second fitting. That%26#39;s just an opinion since I have seen people do that and many have gotten away with it if they went to a recommended tailors. Btw, another good tailor around is Crown Tailors in sukhumvit soi 8. They usually dont do 24 hour work either, but if you tell them your situation, they will find a way to get in your fittings, and so will any other recommended shop. Please take this advice - don%26#39;t go into any random shop where they say its ok to get only 1 fitting done or no fitting at all and your suits will turn out alright. That is all a bunch of bull.
